My connection to UStream has been touchy over the last couple of weeks…so you may have stopped by only to see a frozen image (or the webcame offline). I apologize for this and have been playing with different settings in hopes of getting back to 24/7 broadcast coverage.

8/18 – Power Outage

I was out of town this past week. We aparently lost power on Monday (8/18) so the web cam has been offline for the last few days…sorry about that. Everything should be back up now.

7/9 New Features

With the Twitter API being down more than up, I implemented a few changes that remove the dependency on the Twitter API. First, I added Summize support. Now, whenever Twitter throws an exception, I poll Summize instead. The downside — Summize does not provide real time statuses, so some of your @replies may not appear on the sign right away. Second I added a “live” textbox that allows you to post messages right from the website (without having to use Twitter at all). Give it a try.

I am finding it quite a challenge to build a website that depends on numerous external systems. Right now both Twitter and Ustream are currently down…which means so is TweetMySign. I am currently in the process of adding support for Summize Twitter feeds but that won’t help if the video feed is down. I will be looking at some video streaming alternatives very soon. Let you know when things are up and running again…
